Air Fryer Accessories: 10 That Are Actually Worth Buying

Air-fryer accessories can be useful or pure cupboard clutter. These ten types have a practical reason to exist — plus the ones we would skip.

The air fryer has produced its own accessory industry. Some add useful cooking options. Others simply put another layer between the hot air and your food.

The first rule is simple: measure your basket or drawer before ordering anything. Model names can be confusing and external dimensions tell you very little about the usable cooking space.

1. Silicone liner

A reusable liner can make sticky marinades and greasy foods easier to clean up. Choose one with raised channels or a design that still allows air to circulate around the food.

2. Perforated parchment liners

Disposable liners can be convenient for messy recipes, but perforations help preserve airflow. Never run an empty fryer with loose parchment that can lift into the heating element.

3. Small metal rack

A rack can elevate food and sometimes create a second level. It is useful for foods that benefit from more air exposure, provided the basket is tall enough.

4. Skewer rack

For kebabs and small pieces, a rack keeps skewers raised and can reduce sticking. Check the skewer length carefully before buying.

5. Small baking tin

A correctly sized metal tin allows cakes, baked oats, gratins and other wet mixtures that cannot sit directly in a perforated basket.

6. Silicone muffin cups

Reusable muffin cases are cheap, easy to store and useful for eggs, cakes and individual portions. They also work outside the air fryer, which helps justify the drawer space.

7. Heat-resistant tongs

Not technically an air-fryer accessory, but more useful than many dedicated products. Silicone-tipped tongs let you turn food without scratching non-stick surfaces.

8. Oil mister

A fine spray can help crisp food without pouring oil over it. Make sure the mister is intended for cooking oils and does not clog easily.

9. Thermometer

An instant-read food thermometer is one of the most useful accessories for meat and thicker foods. Cooking time varies by portion size and appliance, so temperature is a better safety check than appearance alone.

10. Replacement crisper plate

If the original plate is damaged or heavily worn, a manufacturer-compatible replacement can restore the appliance without replacing the whole fryer.

Accessories we would think twice about

Be cautious with giant multi-piece bundles. You may get racks, moulds and mats that technically fit but never get used. Also avoid solid liners that completely block the base if your appliance depends on airflow through that area.

Our verdict

Buy accessories one problem at a time. If cleaning is the issue, buy a liner. If you want to bake, buy a tin. If you want better meat results, buy a thermometer. A ten-piece bundle is not automatically better value than one tool you actually use.
