Vodafone Launches 8Gbps Broadband in the UK — But the £32 Price Has a Catch

Vodafone Pro 4 brings Wi-Fi 7 and speeds up to 8Gbps, but £32 is the starting package price. Here's what the fastest tier really costs in the UK.

Vodafone has launched Pro 4 Broadband in the UK, combining a new Wi-Fi 7 router with full-fibre speeds of up to 8Gbps in eligible areas. But the advertised £32-per-month starting price is not the price of the fastest 8Gbps connection.

Announced on 5 November 2026, the service brings the new Ultra Hub 7+ tri-band router, optional whole-home boosters and device-prioritisation tools to Vodafone's premium home broadband range. It is a significant development for households with multiple connected devices, although most customers should look beyond the headline speed before upgrading.

How much does Vodafone Pro 4 cost in the UK?

Vodafone says Pro 4 starts at £32 per month, reduced to £28 per month for eligible Vodafone Together customers. Crucially, these are entry-level prices for the Pro 4 range, not a promise that an 8Gbps line costs £32.

UK broadband specialist ISPreview reports that the 8Gbps tier starts at £58 per month with the Ultra Hub 7+ router, rising to £68 per month when combined with the Pro 4 extras, on the terms it reviewed. ISPreview also reports annual £3.50 monthly bill increases each April. Prices and availability can vary by address and promotion, so customers should check their individual contract summary rather than assume the introductory figure applies to the top speed.

What do you get with Pro 4?

At the centre of the new system is Vodafone's Ultra Hub 7+, a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router. Vodafone pairs it with Super WiFi Boosters designed to improve coverage across larger homes. Its new Smart Modes let customers prioritise traffic for working, gaming or streaming.

The package also advertises 4G Broadband Back Up for connectivity during a fixed-line outage and Secure Net Home security and parental controls covering up to 192 devices. These are Vodafone's stated features; they are not results from independent hands-on testing by ViralGadgets.

Can you actually get 8Gbps broadband?

Not necessarily. The fastest tier depends on access to compatible CityFibre full-fibre infrastructure and the specific service available at your address. Vodafone's wider full-fibre footprint should not be confused with the smaller area eligible for 8Gbps. The only reliable way to establish availability is to enter your postcode and house number into Vodafone's broadband checker.

There is another important distinction: 8Gbps is a maximum advertised connection speed, not a guaranteed speed for every laptop, phone or games console. Real-world transfers depend on the receiving device, Wi-Fi conditions, Ethernet capability, server speed and network congestion. Wi-Fi 7 may improve local wireless performance and capacity, but it does not magically give an older device an 8Gbps connection.

Do UK households need 8Gbps?

For many homes, probably not. Streaming a 4K film, joining video meetings and playing online games simultaneously can work well on substantially slower full-fibre packages. Ultra-fast multi-gigabit broadband becomes more attractive for households regularly transferring enormous files, maintaining several high-performance computers or sharing heavy downloads across many users.

Before paying for the highest tier, check whether your devices have multi-gigabit Ethernet ports, whether you use Wi-Fi or wired connections, and whether coverage problems might be solved more economically with a better-positioned router or mesh system. For gaming, latency and connection stability can matter more than peak download speed.

Is Vodafone Pro 4 worth it?

Pro 4's most useful innovation for ordinary households may be its Wi-Fi 7 equipment, coverage boosters and backup connectivity rather than the 8Gbps headline. If you regularly struggle with dead zones or several devices competing for bandwidth, those features deserve attention. If your existing connection is reliable and fast enough, there is no urgent reason to upgrade purely for the maximum speed claim.

Bottom line: Vodafone's November launch gives UK buyers another serious multi-gigabit option, but compare the actual postcode-specific price, the full contract cost, installation arrangements and available speed before ordering.
